Picture time (repeats but completes)

Whaddup Y'all?

I'm back in Ca$hville (represent) so now without further delay here are the pictures from the trip. I deleted the incomplete and commentary free pics from previous posts so the first few will be repeats, but hopefully I can make it up to y'all with some extra commentary, and I've added some of Tim's pics so this is more or less a complete snapshot of the ride. I'll break things up into sections so as not to overwhelm anyone by travel days, with less notable days merged together. Since I'm commenting on pictures that may be as much as a month old, my memory may be a bit fuzzy, and it particularly fuzzy after Portland, OR (if you get my meaning) so I'll do my best. Luckily I kept a travel journal which should help fill in the gaps. Here we go for the first section:

Bellingham to Deception Pass aka "A turn to the amazing:"
This is only picture I have of Bellingham, but it was a very cool town. We went to the Chuckanut Brewery which was featured in the Oregon Brewer's Festival in Portland.

From Bellingham we rode up the Chuckanut ridge, which was probably one of the most awesome days of riding on the entire trip.
The hills were moderate, but it was our first day of consistent climbing. We felt great, so I was really optimistic about the rest of the journey.

The road runs along the coast and is densely populated with conifer trees. There were plenty of other cyclists on the road, and if I lived in Bellingham it would be a frequent destination for me for sure.
That's the ridge behind me. The post descent landscape was pretty cool too. It was a weird change from a hilly ride through a forest to a completely flat coastal plain. I finally understood what a friend meant by "flat rides are boring."

Tim's ass got in the way of my artsy shot.

For some reason everywhere I looked I saw the AT&T "more bars everywhere" stuff... that is except on my AT&T phone...
This place was selling fresh eggs and stuff. Roadside stands were my favorite thing about Washington.

After a quick picture break we took off further down the road. A few miles later we passed through this tiny little town called Bow. We blew past multiple espresso shops and bars at first until Tim and I could not resist the idea of espresso and a snack.
We stopped at this cool little place called Tweets for chocolate toffee bars, espresso, and a sampling of farm fresh ice cream.
It was a great boost to out PMA.
cute trike.
awesome mailbox.
After a pretty grueling hill we hit up the coast again.
There was a 3 or so mile stretch of bike lane that was made of loose gravel, which was less than pleasant, but the view was worth it.

We rounded out the day at Deception Pass state park. The park itself was awesome, but the combination of traffic and wind approaching the park was quite daunting. The wind was almost strong enough to stop us dead in our tracks.

The park was split up into several campgrounds and we accidentally went to the wrong side of the island, which was conveniently at the bottom of a hill :)

The campfire and the sound of the waves made the ride totally worth it. The sky was perfectly clear, so I laid out for a bit staring at the stars as the waves soothed me to sleep.
