Berries on the Beach

We crossed over another McCullough bridge into North Bend near Coos Bay. We decided to skip the rest area and just get some groceries.
Now that's what I call a sandwich! Tim and I ended up having this for both lunch and dinner! Awesome.

The weather stayed pretty much the same, with some minor variations.
We ended up taking a shorter day because my knee was bothering me and we had heard really good things about the next campsite at Humbug Mt. That's it in the distance. Its the highest peak on the Oregon coast, and was rumored to hold a lot of gold, which ended up being all... ahem... humbug.

Humbug Mt. here we come!
I love turning back and seeing the road that we rode down.
After sandwich leftovers we had some Himalayan Black Berries, an invasive species that grows all over the coast.
Yum! We had this shit for desert constantly. It made our oatmeal purple!
This was the beach at Humbug Mt.
That's the peak on the left.

It would have been cool to hike it, but we arrived too late.

There was a creek feeding into the ocean, and we even found a spring on the beach.

Very cool. You can kind of see the road that we biked down earlier that day.
So we found the alien from Independence Day on the beach... This is actually some kelp from the ocean.
Tim said it looked like a weird S&M toy.
Ooh baby
Now that's what I call adverse effects.
There were some hipster kids camping on the beach. They were riding some steel 10 speeds, and as we learned earlier, were ninja camping everywhere. I doubt they made it all night on the beach without getting kicked out. I mean hiker/biker sites are $4, how cool do you have to be to for that to be a prohibitive expense?
Tim was wondering how breaking waves are formed. This is my bullshit face, if you can't tell.
Can you tell why bike touring is fun yet? That night we met Chris the 19 year old kid from Alaska and some douchey dudes from Portland who we ran into several times but never really warmed up to.
