Bad Bike-Karma catches up to me

The day really started out well. We were doing a lot of climbing, but the grades were gradual and the views were worth it.
I can't even describe how much motivation views like this provided.

We climbed two major hills that day, the second higher than the first. My knee was definitely bothering me, but it wasn't until the second hill when my crank brothers pedal broke that it became much worse. Climbing a hill without clipless pedals blows.
As I've mentioned already, even though it was unpleasant, we really had no choice in moving forward.
We stopped off in Pacific City, another tourist trap along the coast. The state park was right beside an RV resort and I think they took the inspiration for their layout from a refugee camp. The hiker/biker site was basically in the middle of a ring of cars and RVs in what looked like a giant parking lot. There was also dozens of bunnies hopping around the beach and the park. Weird.
We had super expensive beers at some Pelican Bay Brewery with an unbelievably boring IPA and decided to walk into town to see some other options. We found a dive bar with fish and chips and $3.50 Dead Guy pints. Considering our next planned day would be at Newport, home of Rogue brewing, we were pretty excited.
Yet another awesome end to a not so great day.

Pretty cool huh? And this is just the beginning.
