Day Two Pics

Day Two started out miserable. We left at 10 AM under pretty heavy rain. After about an hour of thinking about how I should have invested in waterproof shoe covers, and how I really wanted to return my "rain" pants, the rain let up. Most of my stuff was dry though, except for a spot in my rear panniers that was exposed. After the rain let up we came upon this really awesome swamp:

Stretching by the swamp in my rain gear.
Our waterproof (mostly) bikes and bags.
Tim taking photos by the swamp.

I love it. According to a historical marker (oh and there are more than you can count on this route) there was a civil war battle that took place near here. Can you imagine trudging through this swamp, with your feet rotting, your amputated arm getting infected, only to meet your fellow Americans in battle. Not getting stabbed with a bayonet definitely made our situation seem brighter.

Monet's waterl illies aint got shit on this.
Bitch.
While Tim was taking the preceding picture, my bike tipped over with a loud splash into a ditch. Tim laughed it up, but at least I wasn't on my bike (or anywhere near it for that matter) when it fell over (twice mind you) like he was.
I didn't quite realize when I bought these gloves just how gay they were. Now I don't mean gay in any bad way. I'm just using it as a general term for something that might make rural Virginians think I'm into dudes. I mean the horse is just short of being a unicorn. That may be cool in Brooklyn, but in "real" Virginia, tha shit probably won't fly.
While approaching Ashland, we spotted this bike graveyard.
Badass.

Day two and already the farmer's tan.
